Gut Health

Beware of Imitation Spore Probiotics!

You use spore probiotics to help improve your health… so it’s critical to make sure that you’re buying the right ones. Especially since buying the wrong ones can damage your health and well-being.

Numerous studies show how life-changing spore probiotics can be, and how effectively they can reshape your gut microbiome into a health-promoting dynamo. Perhaps that’s why copycats and scammers have flooded the market with inferior products. And their marketing makes it seem like they’re the real deal… but they’re not.

It’s not surprising, unfortunately. As long as there have been great supplements, there have been slick marketers and scam artists that attempt to “steal” the science that doesn’t apply to what’s in their bottle.

That’s why it’s so important to look beyond the fancy packaging to find the science. Because when it comes to spore probiotics and your health, you only want to use research-backed products so you know exactly what you’re putting in your body.

Spores Soar From Unknown to Probiotic Superstars

Just five years ago almost no one had even heard of spore probiotics. But all that changed when a science-based company launched a groundbreaking product.

Just Thrive created the spore-based Probiotic & Antioxidant based on extensive research. Their studies were peer-reviewed and published in highly respected medical journals. And the successful clinical trials clearly demonstrated effectiveness and human health benefits… Bringing spore probiotics into the limelight.

As word spread to practitioners and consumers about the amazing impact of Just Thrive spore probiotics, other companies – and their marketing teams – decided to cash in.

So they ran to market with any old spores… making “spore-based” the fastest growing category in probiotics.

But not all spores are the same. No matter who tries to pretend that they are.

Inferior Strains Seem the Same But They’re NOT

Cheaper generic spores may sound like well-researched, proven strains but they aren’t the same. Different strains of probiotics can be identified by a unique alphanumeric code. For example, Bacillus subtilis HU58™ has been studied extensively – including several human clinical trials – but plain old Bacillus subtilis has not.

Bacillus subtilis HU58™ is an ultra-powerful probiotic strain that acts like an antibiotic against 12 harmful bacteria, keeping them from growing and multiplying. It also produces a compound called nattokinase, which has been shown to support healthy circulation and blood pressure. But those benefits only come from Bacillus subtilis HU58™ (and not “Bacillus subtilis”)

You can’t expect to get the same results from ordinary Bacillus subtilis as you would from the clinically proven Bacillus subtilis HU58™. The two are not interchangeable, even though clever marketing can make it sound like the only difference is price. Bacillus subtilis HU58™ offers science-backed health benefits… generic Bacillus subtilis is a crapshoot at best.

So what else should you look out for? Here’s a short list:

1. Random numbers and letters listed after a bacterial species on a probiotic label.

Some companies include them so their spore strains look impressive. But they are, in fact, meaningless without published clinical studies to back them up. If there’s no research proving that a particular spore bacillus strain actually provides health benefits? Then it doesn’t.

    2. Misleading “survivability” statistics.

Survivability refers to what percentage of the spore probiotics arrive in your gut alive and able to get to work – dead spores can’t possibly provide benefits. Be aware that some spore probiotic companies try to “cheat” by conducting testing at a Ph far more alkaline/less acidic than the contents of the average stomach. So any study using a Ph greater than 1.2 for less than 2 hours is not relevant.

How does pH work? It’s a scale that shows how acidic or alkaline a substance is chemically. The scale runs from 0 to 14: values under 7 indicate acid, values over 7 indicate alkaline, and 7 equals neutral. The further away from 7 the value is, the more acidic or alkaline the substance is. You can find the pH information in the “Materials and Methods” section of any study you want to look at.

      3. Missing DNA genetic testing.

The FDA doesn’t require DNA genetic testing of retail spore probiotic strains. But that is the only way to prove that what’s on the label is actually in the capsule. And very often, they don’t match. (1) To ensure you’re getting quality spores, always look for proof of “DNA Verification.”

“DNA verified” means that the probiotics inside the bottle have been tested to make sure they match the strains listed on the label.

Stick with thoroughly and properly researched strains. You want to know what you’re getting… and that what you get will provide proven health benefits.

The Antioxidant Difference – an Exclusive Bonus for Your Health

You probably think of gut health when you think about spore probiotics… and that makes sense because that’s one of their prime specialties. But some spore probiotics go further to support your best health… like Bacillus indicus HU36™.

Bacillus indicus HU36™ – and only Bacillus indicus HU36™ –  has the ability to produce over 25 different antioxidants in your gut. (2) Antioxidants help your body manage free radicals and support your protective gut barrier. That’s why researchers believe that Bacillus indicus HU36™ may be the primary driver behind the remarkable 42% reduction in leaky gut demonstrated in a human clinical trial. (3)

And Just Thrive Probiotic is the only direct to consumer spore probiotic that contains this unique antioxidant-producing spore probiotic. You won’t find Bacillus indicus HU36™ anywhere else.
